# BrightSprout Kids

[BrightSprout Kids](https://apparel-kids.mock.shop/llms.txt) is a [mock.shop](https://www.mock.shop/) sample store for building against a children’s clothing and accessories shop with product-specific sizes and color, print, or finish choices before a real Shopify store is ready. The catalog includes dresses, outfit sets, pajamas, throw blankets, shirts, pants, jackets, hats, mittens, and socks. Size labels vary by product and include toddler, numeric, and named sizes. There are 30 products across four collections. All 30 products have 12 variants, and 12 products have compare-at prices.

mock.shop is an auth-free Shopify Storefront GraphQL API backed by sample reference stores. Find out more about [mock.shop sample stores](https://www.shopify.com/blog/mock-shop).

## When to use this store

Choose BrightSprout Kids when you want to build a children’s clothing shop with daywear, pajamas, blankets, and seasonal accessories. Shoppers can choose from each product’s own sizes, colors, prints, or finishes.

Use BrightSprout Kids for:

- Building a kids’ clothing storefront with product-specific sizing and print choices
- Testing variable pricing and compare-at display across a 30-product seasonal catalog
- Browsing a children's apparel range across daywear, sleepwear, outdoor, and winter collections

Choose another mock.shop store if you need adult clothing, a single apparel category, or one uniform size run. Browse <https://mock.shop/llms.txt> to find a store that matches your catalog.

## Example BrightSprout Kids query

Here’s an example GraphQL `POST` request that retrieves options and variant prices for one product from <https://apparel-kids.mock.shop/api>:

```bash
curl https://apparel-kids.mock.shop/api \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data '{"query":"{ product(handle: \"aqua-breeze-floral-print-frock\") { id title options { name values } variants(first: 20) { pageInfo { hasNextPage } nodes { id title selectedOptions { name value } price { amount currencyCode } compareAtPrice { amount currencyCode } availableForSale } } } }"}'
```

This query retrieves Aqua Breeze Floral Print Frock, including option values, variant IDs, selected options, availability, and current and compare-at prices. Use the selected variant’s ID and price when adding it to a cart.

The endpoint doesn't require authentication or an access token. Read <https://apparel-kids.mock.shop/llms.txt> for catalog details and store-specific instructions.

## What this catalog lets you test

Build a children’s clothing storefront with daywear, sleepwear, outdoor, and winter collection pages. Aqua Breeze Floral Print Frock has Sunshine, Sky, and Grass Color choices with Size values 2T through 5T. Other products use Small through X-Large, numeric labels 4, 6, and 8, or Infant, Toddler, and Youth. Read each item’s size labels without treating the numeric values as ages. Products pair Size with Color, Print, or Finish, so pages can adapt their controls instead of assuming a color selector everywhere. Every product has 12 variants with prices that vary by selection, and 12 products have compare-at prices. The 30-product range also includes pajamas, blankets, hats, and mittens for testing collection navigation and carts with different types of items.

Preview the catalog in a storefront by opening <https://apparel-kids.hydrogen.mock.shop> in a browser.

## Build with an AI coding tool

To build a children's apparel storefront with BrightSprout Kids using Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable, or another AI assistant, copy the prompt below. It gives the assistant the store domain and directs it to the catalog instructions before it starts writing code.

```text
Build me a Hydrogen storefront using apparel-kids.mock.shop as the store domain. Setup instructions: apparel-kids.mock.shop/llms.txt
```

Shopify also provides a [mock.shop starter project](https://github.com/Shopify/mock-shop-starter): a Hydrogen storefront with product pages, collection browsing, and a working cart already connected to mock.shop. You or your AI coding tool can customize this code instead of building those pieces from scratch.

Follow the repository’s setup instructions, then set `PUBLIC_STORE_DOMAIN=apparel-kids.mock.shop` in `.env` and restart the dev server to use BrightSprout Kids’ catalog. Leave `PUBLIC_STOREFRONT_API_TOKEN` empty; mock.shop doesn’t require a token.

## Move to a real Shopify store

mock.shop uses fictional, read-only catalog data. Cart operations work, and checkout is mocked: no payment is taken and no real order is placed. The Customer Account API isn’t supported.

When you’re ready to launch, point your storefront at a Shopify store and add that store’s public Storefront API token. If you don’t have a Shopify store yet, [start a Shopify free trial](https://www.shopify.com/free-trial) to create one.

Read the [mock.shop developer documentation](https://shopify.dev/docs/storefronts/headless/mock-shop) for setup and migration details.
